MPS has successfully installed a Boeing 737 MAX FTD at Oman Aviation Academy (OAA) based at Sohar Airport in Oman. This smarter simulator is the first of its kind in the region and has the latest version of the Boeing MAX software installed. The device will be certified by Oman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and EASA as an FTD-1 including FNPT-II/MCC. The MAX software will allow pilots to receive the most up-to-date system and aerodynamic information necessary for a safe return to service of the aircraft. In addition to using the MPS FTD for high quality MAX training, OAA will host a variety of different aviation training programs in the device including a fully integrated EASA Airline Transport Pilot ATPL(A) Training Program.

This installation was completed under extraordinary circumstances due to COVID-19. Despite hurdles such as travel restrictions preventing the MPS team from entering Oman for a normal delivery, the installation crew was able to take all necessary steps to ensure a safe and on-time delivery for OAA so they can continue to best serve their cadets.

OAA’s Chief Executive Officer, Captain Abdullah Al Bulushi: “We are very glad to partner with MPS and having the first Boeing 737 MAX FTD in the region installed at our facility in Sohar Airport. The device represents the state of art technology which will allow OAA to delivers the highest standard EASA integrated ATPL training program. In addition, the device will extend its services and will be available for the airlines and operators to train their pilots for safe return of B737 MAX to service.”

MPS’ Chief Executive Officer, Captain Philip Adrian: “MPS is very grateful for the support provided by Oman Aviation Academy during the installation process of our simulator. This installation truly serves as the start of a partnership that will bring a paradigm shift in training to the area and our team is thrilled to partner with OAA on this. This FTD will provide many years of high quality training to students at OAA and in the region.”
